I need help!! I purchased several types of water treatments from pondliner.com and I still get ugly green water and nothing is helping. My fish seem to do ok but a few days ago I saw little red worms in the filter that were about 3/8ths inch long??? The "algaefix" bubbled algae to the surface but now the fish don't seem to come up? Any ideas and suggestions?

Jonelle- By "ugly green water" I assume that your water is pea green. Water treatments that work on algae usually work best on string algae and blanketweed. Even though the label of these treatments mention green water, a typical algae bloom is much too strong.

Ultraviolet Clarifiers are the best solution for green water. You place it inline between your pump and filter. As the green water passes through it, the algae in the water is killed or deformed so that it is unable to reproduce. I do not know your pond size, but we have a great buy on a Cal Pump 9 watt UV that will work for a 1000 gallon pond.

The red worms are nothing to be concerned about. We see them in many pond filters and do not harms the fish or ecosystem in any way.
